Growing Leaders Through Mentoring

With a vision of supporting emerging leaders and driving organizational diversity, a large regional bank trusted Compass to reimagine its mentoring program.

Client

FHLBank Pittsburgh is part of the government Federal Home Loan Bank System which provides funding to member financial institutions to support housing and economic development in a three-state region.

Challenge

Engagement of both mentors and mentees was paramount to the program being supported by leadership. Understanding the previous mentoring program created a pathway for improvement. A methodical pair-matching system, robust training program, and scheduled support were requested to ensure participant commitment.

Process

Together, Compass and the FHLBank developed program goals and a vigorous mentor and mentee application. Compass worked side-by-side with the HR team to choose well-suited program participants. Using a customized, methodical pair-matching system developed by Compass, emerging leaders were paired with established leaders.

A strong mentoring program is essential to FHLBank’s efforts to build a strong leadership talent pipeline. Compass’s consultation, resources, and training really took our program to the next level.
